FAQ
FluentAI FAQ: the 10 questions users ask most
Last updated
These are the questions FluentAI users asked most often between October 2025 and October 2026, on the community boards, on Discord and in support chat, in order of how often they came up.
Why don't subtitles show up on my video?
FluentAI uses the subtitle track that the video site provides. First, turn on subtitles in the site's own player and pick the language you learn. Then reload the page, and check on your browser's extensions page that FluentAI is on and up to date. FluentAI works on Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV and Crunchyroll. If a video has no subtitles at all, the Pro and Backer plans can make AI subtitles from the audio. If it still fails, post the video link on the bug board.
Can FluentAI make subtitles from the audio?
Yes. AI subtitles (neural transcription) make a subtitle track from the audio of a video that has no usable subtitles. They are in the Pro plan ($9.99 a month) and the Backer plan ($19.99 a month). They use AI credits, about 21 for each minute of video.
Which sites does FluentAI work on?
The extension works in Chrome and Firefox on a computer, on Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV and Crunchyroll. On fluentai.pro you can also open your own video and audio files, EPUB and PDF books, and any text in the readers. To ask for another site, post it on the feature request board.
Is FluentAI free, and what do the paid plans cost?
Yes, there is a free plan with no time limit. It has dual subtitles, hover translation, text to speech, flashcards and 4,500 AI credits a month. Basic costs $4.99 a month and adds the word click popup, word explanations and sentence breakdown. Pro costs $9.99 a month and adds AI subtitles. Backer costs $19.99 a month and has the highest limits and priority support. Yearly billing costs less than twelve monthly payments, and Lifetime plans are paid once.
I can't sign up or sign in. What do I do?
Use "Continue with Google", or your email and a password. A new email account gets a 6-digit code by email. If it does not arrive, look in your spam folder. If you forgot your password, select "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page to get a reset code. If you still cannot sign in, email support@fluentai.pro.
Can I export my words to Anki?
Yes. Export your saved words as an Anki deck file, or send them to Anki through AnkiConnect. The Free plan makes 1 deck a day, Basic 5 a day, and Pro and Backer have no daily limit. You do not need Anki: every plan has built-in flashcards with spaced repetition.
How do I mark words as "learning" or "known"?
Open a saved word and select "Mark as Learning" or "Mark as Mastered". To change many words at once, select "Mark known" in a word list or in the Notebook.
How do AI credits work, and why did mine run out?
Credits pay for the AI work: word lookups, word analysis, text to speech and AI subtitles. Each plan gets new credits every month: Free 4,500, Basic 69,000, Pro 140,000 and Backer 280,000. Watching with subtitle analysis uses the most, about 2,000 credits an hour; a word lookup uses about 1. Unused monthly credits do not carry over. A top-up of 23,000 credits costs the same as a Basic month and does not expire.
Is there a discount or a lifetime plan?
Yes, FluentAI plans are also sold as Lifetime plans, paid once; the pricing page lists their prices. A yearly plan costs less than twelve monthly payments, and a FluentAI plan with an AI tutor plan of the same tier costs less together than apart.
How do I contact support or report a bug?
Post bugs, feature requests and questions on the community boards at fluentai.pro/community-discussions. For account or billing questions, email support@fluentai.pro or use the contact page. The Backer plan includes priority support.
